Can I open several Password Depot databases in the client at the same time?

Yes, starting from version 18, you can open multiple Password Depot databases at the same time from different storage locations, including local databases, PD Enterprise Server databases, and more.

How to Open Multiple PD Enterprise Server Databases:

  1. In the left panel, navigate to Home → Enterprise Server.

  2. Connect to your Password Depot Enterprise Server.

  3. Once connected, open a database from the main list view in the middle of the screen.

  4. To open another database, go back to Home from the tabs area and open a new database.

What's important to know when using the browser add-on?

Since version 19.0.1, the add-on also supports working across multiple databases. This allows entries to be auto-filled from all open databases. If you want to add a new entry using the browser add-on, the selection window will let you choose which database to save the entry in.

Version 17 and older

Unfortunately, you cannot open several databases in the client at the same time when using version 17 or older. Therefore, it is only possible to see the content of one single database in the client's main view. In addition, searches can only be performed in the database displayed in the client.

Accessing different Enterprise Server databases

Accessing server databases with just one click is, however, possible. To do so, activate the following feature in the client by going to ViewDatabases on Server:

Now, in the lower left corner of the client, users can see all the server databases they have access to in a separate window. Users can easily switch between those databases with just one click and do not have to authenticate again and again every time they would like to open another database on the server.

Note: The Databases on Server feature cannot be used for local or cloud databases. Therefore, if users want to switch from a server to a cloud database, or vice versa, they have to open the Database Manager and authenticate again each time they want to open another database.
